Insight of Adaptive Web Design

There are many comparisons have been done between the adaptive web design and responsive web design in the social media, but how many of us understood the adaptive web design? Here is the insight of the Adaptive Web Design to the beginners and whoever wants to learn about the web design, particularly adaptive web design:

In 2011, Adaptive Web Design introduced through a book called Adaptive Web Design: Crafting Rich Experiences with Progressive Enhancement by a web designer named Aaron Gustafson, who happens to be the author of the book. He stated that adaptive web design is known as a progressive enhancement of a website.

Adaptive web design is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) design that able to adapt different screen sizes. It is less flexible compared to Responsive Web Design, but there are companies still use it due to the cost, which means it is not an extinct design due to the occurrence of Responsive Web Design.

In adaptive design, the content appears in a fixed layout size, and there are few fixed layouts so you can choose the best layout depends on screen size. Usually, the designers will develop six designs for the most common screen widths namely 320, 480, 760, 960, 1200, and 1600 pixels. It is also a standardised size for the designers.

The most important thing in adaptive design is that it enables the designer to adapt solutions so that the GUI looks more optimally on different screen sizes. Also, it is slightly affordable compared to responsive web design, even though it requires six individual GUIs. However, the con is the zero solution to those who do not have a standard-sized screen.

Regardless, it remains as one of the choices in presenting output, according to the suitability of the company, customers and the value adaptive web design Malaysia has it.
